About The Endowed Chair

The Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair at The University of Tulsa was established in 1999 to bring to campus distinguished scholars in English, law, religion, science or other disciplines compatible with the legacy of Darcy O'Brien.

The Visiting Scholars who hold the Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair are individuals of established reputation who command international respect in their fields and demonstrate a commitment to sharing knowledge. While in residence, these scholars devote considerable time and talent to the student body and greater community through classroom teaching and public lectures.

The Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair provides formal and informal learning opportunities in settings both intimate and all-inclusive. These opportunities take the form of classroom teaching, workshops, colloquia and public lectures. Each scholar develops a residency program appropriate not only to the mission of the endowment, but also to the scholarly expertise of the individual visitor. The residency period may vary.
