Beginning
Youve left and Ive
left;
The difference is that Im
still on this earth,
Bare-footed waltzing in the rain
With my hair full of algae.
Im lying on the beach of this evening,
Here, at miles from the ocean;
Still, going shopping, I hear the tide. Youve left and Ive left.
I was there, close to the coffin;
You were having a restful sleep after your hard life.
You staged all my victories so far.
Now, Im lost in the dark . . .
At midnight I undo my hair:
Then it is raining algae on the campus,
Then it is raining blood. . .
