As a result of TU College of Law’s continued push for experiential learning opportunities, I was able to participate in a Summer Externship with Garrett Law Center, PLLC. I chose this firm in order to maximize my exposure to a variety of different legal fields and do so under the mentor ship of accomplished attorneys in each of these fields.
Summertime is precious to all law students. It is when we supplement our classroom knowledge with practical experience to prepare us for the “real world.” However, as a rising 3L graduating in December, I felt added pressure to maximize my learning and practice skills during these summer months. Externing at Garrett Law Center has helped me achieve this goal, while providing an invaluable experience.
It is a position some law students only dream of but for Andrew McMahon, pictured on the left, interning with the Attorney General of Ireland was not only a reality but also an experience unlike any other.
This past June, Andrew spent every weekday morning interning with the highest legal officer in Ireland where he was able to contribute on intern projects, draft reports and research legal issues concerning immigration and asylum. His background in both European Union law and business provided him a firm foundation upon which to excel in his internship with the Attorney General.
I heard about TU from the LSAC. I actually applied for admission to four Law Schools through LSAC, and was offered admission by all, but I chose TU because of the energy law concentration program.
