  3L Christopher Garner discusses the important practical experience and skills he has gained as an extern for The Honorable Linda G. Morrissey, District Judge of the District Court of Tulsa County.

  I began my externship with Judge Linda Morrissey at the beginning of this semester.  I saw this opportunity listed on Symplicity and thought that it would be great to add to my resume.  This experience has essentially been a practical lesson in civil procedure.

  Along with being a student clinic intern, 2L Margo Shipley is also an extern at Domestic Violence Intervention Services.  In this Q&A, she shares her experience and what she has learned.

  How did you benefit from your externship, including the practical legal setting, course component and/or program overall?

  Through my externship at DVIS, I gained knowledge and experience in the field of family law, particularly with regard to working with domestic violence victims.

  2L Kimberly Fink gives an overview of Water Week 2013 and highlights some of the topics discussed.

  Water Week 2013, hosted by TU Law’s SERL program, REELS, and the Energy Law Journal, proved to be another success.  TU students and faculty and legal practitioners were enlightened by four experts in water law speaking from very diverse perspectives.

  2L Shipley Interns at TU College of Law’s Legal Clinic

  2L Margo Shipley shares her experience as a student clinic intern in the Immigrants’ Rights Project at The University of Tulsa College of Law’s Boesche Legal Clinic.

  Working at the Boesche Legal Clinic has helped me to gain both substantive knowledge of immigration law as well as practical experience interviewing clients and putting together immigration petitions.  One unique aspect of the Clinic is that students are actually allowed to practice law, under the direction of Professor Elizabeth McCormick, which enables us to apply the knowledge that we have gained about immigration law in the lecture aspect of the course.
