I externed at the Tulsa County Courthouse with Judge Linda Morrissey.
2. What are some of your day-to-day duties/responsibilities?
I wrote approximately 5 or 6 memorandums in total and checked journal entries daily. Also I watched both civil and criminal trials.
3. What skills are you learning in this position and how do you think they will help you in your future legal career?
I think I learned how the procedure in court works in real life, which definitely helped me understand civil procedure better. Also I learned how to write better and more concise memos from my peers.
4. What have been some of your favorite moments from this experience?
We watched a criminal jury trial in the courthouse about child molestation. The defendant got a sentence of 99 years. A few days later we went on a jail tour and saw that same defendant.
5. What has been the best advice you have received from someone you work with?
The best advice I received was don’t hesitate to ask questions.
